#OneWord Thursday: #Synchronicity — Cubic Centimeters of Chance
Lately, I’ve noticed a few happenings in my life that seemed to neatly fall into the category of “synchronistic.” For instance, an art studio that I first imagined (as in visualized and noted in my journal) five years ago mysteriously showed up this week just as I needed to leave the studio that I am currently occupying. Is that a meaningful happening, or what?
In honor of this “synchronistic” event, I thought I’d take a deeper look into the meaning of the word, gather a few quotes and step back for more synchronistic happenings!
Here, 13 (A Baker’s Dozen) Synchronistic Quotes – Experience the Miraculous!
According to Vedanta, there are only two symptoms of enlightenment, just two indications that a transformation is taking place within you toward a higher consciousness. The first symptom is that you stop worrying. Things don’t bother you anymore. You become light-hearted and full of joy. The second symptom is that you encounter more and more meaningful coincidences in your life, more and more synchronicities. And this accelerates to the point where you actually experience the miraculous. (quoted by Carol Lynn Pearson in Consider the Butterfly)” ~ Deepak Chopra “Synchrodestiny: Harnessing the Infinite Power of Coincidence to Create Miracles”
All of us, whether or not we are warriors, have a cubic centimeter of chance that pops out in front of our eyes from time to time. The difference between an average man and a warrior is that the warrior is aware of this, and one of his tasks is to be alert, deliberately waiting, so that when his cubic centimeter pops out he has the necessary speed, the prowess, to pick it up. ~ Carlos Castaneda
Coincidences give you opportunities to look more deeply into your existence. ~ Doug Dillon
As soon as we notice that certain types of event “like” to cluster together at certain times, we begin to understand the attitude of the Chinese, whose theories of medicine, philosophy, and even building are based on a “science” of meaningful coincidences. The classical Chinese texts did not ask what causes what, but rather what “likes” to occur with what. ~ M.L. von Franz
At various points in our lives, or on a quest, and for reasons that often remain obscure, we are driven to make decisions, which prove with hindsight to be loaded with meaning. ~ Swami Satchidananda, The Yoga Sutras
Synchronistic meetings are like mirrors that reflect something of ourselves. If we want to grow spiritually, all we have to do is take a good look. Synchronicity holds the promise that if we want to change inside, the patterns of our external life will change as well. ~ Jean Shinoda Bolen
I am open to the guidance of synchronicity, and do not let expectations hinder my path. ~ Dalai Lama
Synchronicity hints at the unified world behind the illusory veil of the material universe. ~ Roger S. Jones
Synchronicity reveals the meaningful connections between the subjective and objective world. ~ Carl Jung
Whether we name divine presence synchronicity, serendipity, or graced moment matters little. What matters is the reality that our hearts have been understood. Nothing is as real as a healthy dose of magic, which restores our spirits. ~ Nancy Long
Synchronistic events offer us perceptions that may be useful in our psychological and spiritual growth and may reveal to us, through intuitive knowledge, that our lives have meaning. ~ Jean Shinoda Bolen, MD, The Tao of Psychology
There is no such thing as chance; and what seem to us merest accident springs from the deepest source of destiny. ~ Friedrich Schiller
… synchronicity is the manifestation in the physical world of the connections that are forming in the invisible world all the time. It is the energy that sustains the cosmos, moves the atoms, and breathes in our cells, making itself known to us so we remember that the Divine is always at work within and for us. It is proof that we are made from more than the flesh and bones of our dense materiality – that we are part of a larger, unseen picture. … we are like islands, in the sea, separated on the surface but connected in the deep. We are all in the dance together.” – Agapi Stassinopoulos
