#OneWord: We are made of #Star stuff!
Dig it, Tushkateers (members of Our Lady of Weight Loss’s KICK in the TUSH Club), Nine billion years ago – give or take a few years — after the universe began — enough large atoms existed to not only create our planet, but to also create the brain that is making sense of these words. (Yes, that would be your brain!)
The majority of the atoms in your body, including the oxygen in your lungs and the iron in your blood were born inside a star. Essentially, your body is made of stardust! (Source: Rick Hanson with Richard Mendius, Buddha’s Brain)
With that in mind:
1) read through these 13 quotes (a baker’s dozen),
2) take them in on a cellular level,
3) rethink the very essence of who you are; and then,
4) be the star that you are meant to be!
The cosmos is within us. We are made of star-stuff. We are a way for the universe to know itself. ~ Carl Sagan
There’s as many atoms in a single molecule of your DNA as there are stars in the typical galaxy. We are, each of us, a little universe. ~ Neil deGrasse Tyson
The amazing thing is that every atom in your body came from a star that exploded. And, the atoms in your left hand probably came from a different star than your right hand. It really is the most poetic thing I know about physics: You are all stardust. You couldn’t be here if stars hadn’t exploded, because the elements – the carbon, nitrogen, oxygen, iron, all the things that matter for evolution – weren’t created at the beginning of time. They were created in the nuclear furnaces of stars, and the only way they could get into your body is if those stars were kind enough to explode. So, forget Jesus. The stars died so that you could be here today. ~ Lawrence M. Krauss
There’s a flame of magic inside every stone & every flower, every bird that sings & every frog that croaks. There’s magic in the trees & the hills & the river & the rocks, in the sea & the stars & the wind, a deep, wild magic that’s as old as the world itself. It’s in you too, my darling girl, and in me, and in every living creature, be it ever so small. Even the dirt I’m sweeping up now is stardust. In fact, all of us are made from the stuff of stars. ~ Kate Forsyth
The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of star-stuff. ~ Carl Sagan
Magic exists. Who can doubt it, when there are rainbows and wildflowers, the music of the wind and the silence of the stars? Anyone who has loved has been touched by magic. It is such a simple and such an extraordinary part of the lives we live. ~ Nora Roberts
We all shine on…like the moon and the stars and the sun…we all shine on…come on and on and on…” ~ John Lennon
Not just beautiful, though–the stars are like the trees in the forest, alive and breathing. And they’re watching me. ~ Haruki Murakami
Each star is a mirror reflecting the truth inside you. ~ Aberjhani
When it’s dark enough you can see the stars. ~ Charles A. Beard
Don’t let’s ask for the moon! We have the stars ~ Olive Higgins Prouty
Every star was once darker than the night, before it awoke. ~ Dejan Stojanovic
Do not complain beneath the stars about the lack of bright spots in your life. ~ Bjornstjerne Bjornson
