#ChewingFat: Quick Fixes? Are you for or against?
Tushkateers, It’s time to Chew the Fat with Our Lady of Weight Loss! Quick fixes. For or against? Read On and Weigh In!
Dear OLofWL ~ I ‘googled’ QUICK WEIGHT LOSS and HOW TO LOSE 20 POUNDS FAST and low n’ behold, YOU popped up on my screen! I read through some of your writings, and I get it, I really do. You may have written about those topics, but it’s not what you believe. It’s not the route you took.
Reluctantly, I agree. And even though I know for sure that losing 20 pounds in two weeks is not healthy, and maybe not even possible, still … I want it to be so. Why is that? Why can’t I get it through my ‘thick and fat’ skull that there are no quick fixes? ~ A.T. from Tennessee
Dear A.T. from Tennessee ~ I suppose it’s human nature. Seems like we’d all like to wake up “thin, rich and beautiful.”
On the one hand, it would be lovely to simply imagine what we want, think positive thoughts and step back and watch it happen. Yes, No? Maybe; maybe not?
Before we jump on the “instant fix” bandwagon, let’s consider that there’s something in the work, the process, the nuances, the lessons along the way that “feeds our soul” in a way that “instant happiness” just can not.
Permanent Fat Removal (weight loss, weight reduction, call it what you like) is a process. There’s true beauty in the process. The process presents an incredible opportunity for you to make a real commitment to YOU.
There is a joy in overcoming the obstacles. There is strength in making a commitment; a true, hard-core commitment. Instead of “fighting” against yourself and what you need to do to create health, consider “embracing” the journey. Embrace healthy foods, deep breathing; embrace being thoughtful.
Step into your “weight loss warrior” outfit (whatever that might look like to you) and commit to utilizing weight loss as an opportunity for reinvention and transformation.
You might find a program out there that promises quick weight loss and delivers it too, but … but … will you keep “it” off? Or maybe find “it” again?
Please consider rethinking what QUICK really means. Choose the meaningful route. Embrace transformation! Whatever lessons you learn on the Road to Sveltesville (not the super, fast highway where collisions are plentiful but the long and winding, beautiful road to Sveltesville) can be applied to every area of your life.
It’s NOT about your weight; it is about your life! ~ OLofWL
