Kick Tush Tuesday: The Secret of Life-from Mediocrity to Genius
The ‘burning bush’ was not a miracle. It was a test. God wanted to find out if Moses could pay attention to something for more than a few minutes. When Moses did, God spoke. The trick is to pay attention to what is going on around you long enough to behold the miracle without falling asleep. There is another world, right here within this one, whenever we pay attention. ~ Lawrence Kushner, God Was In This Place, and I, I Did Not Know
Tushkateers, Have you heard of one of the most sought-after “success” books, the classic, The Man Who Tapped the Secrets of the Universe? It was written in 1946 by Glenn Clark.
Glenn Clark, the author, was searching for a versatile genius (a.k.a. renaissance man) who understood and utilized universal law and who inspired others. Clark was introduced to Walter Russell, musician, illustrator, portrait painter, architectural designer, sculptor, business practices adviser to employees of International Business Machines, champion figure skater, natural scientist, philosopher and author. (Imagine being and doing all that!)
Glenn Clark asked Walter Russell: “Can you give me the secret of your life?”
Walter Russell replied, “I believe sincerely that every man has consummate genius within him. Some appear to have it more than others only because they are aware of it more than others are, and the awareness or unawareness of it is what makes each one of them into masters or holds them down to mediocrity.
“I believe that mediocrity is self-inflicted and genius is self-bestowed. Every successful person I ever have known, and I have known a great many, carries within him the key which unlocks that awareness and lets in the universal power that has made him into a master.”
“What is that key?” queried Glenn Clark.
“That key is desire when it is released into the great eternal Energy of the Universe.”
Desire (a.k.a. Want Power)
*Strong desire keeps you focused on your goals.
*Strong desire makes the obstacles and roadblocks less of a challenge.
*Strong desire keeps you buoyant.
Your desire can give you the extra boost that you need.
If you have an idea (a goal), and I know that you do, then know this. Inherent within you is the ability to create it. You wouldn’t have had the desire to create a healthy lifestyle is you weren’t able to manifest it.
You have the genius within you.
Now that you know that you have GENIUS within you; that YOU ARE a genius, you can now choose between genius and mediocrity.
If your mind keeps leading you toward mediocrity, if negative thoughts arise, if you are having difficulty seeing your genius, then find a quiet place to sit. A place where you can easily and effortlessly settle in; where you can connect to the Now, to the present moment.
Breathe in. Breathe out. Allow the clouds to clear, one by one, until your genius is right there, in front of you.
From unawareness to awareness.
*See your genius!
*Appreciate your genius!
*Utilize your genius!
